Champneys
Their company was established in 1925 thanks to the foresight of a visionary naturopath named Stanley Lief. Originally called the Nature Cure Resort, it pioneered the concept of health resorts in the United Kingdom.
In 1890, after finding he had an incurable heart condition, young Stanley tried osteopathy and dietary changes in an attempt to feel better. After curing himself at the age of 16, he went on to study naturopathy and create what is now known as Champneys in Tring on the estate he purchased from the Rothschilds. Lief’s resort became famous for being an early proponent of holistic and naturopathic practices. Patients came from far and wide to benefit from its instant and lasting popularity. His views on holism, healthy diet, and the perils of stress all persist in today’s medical practice.
The estate bearing Ralph de Champneys‘s name was sold by Lief in the 1950s, and it passed through various owners before being purchased by the Purdews in 2002. Champneys acquired the properties that are now known as Henlow Grange, Springs Health Farm, and Forest Mere between 1981 and 1990 and 1995.
Mother and son team Dorothy and Stephen Purdew have taken the enterprise to new heights. Following considerable refurbishment, Champneys currently runs not only four resorts but also three city spas and a collection of highly regarded consumer goods. They have invested heavily in the future of wellness, and their International College of Health and Beauty (established in 1976) is not only one of the most prestigious beauty schools in the UK, but in the world.
Champneys has long been a popular destination for Hollywood’s elite, in addition to politicians and Middle Eastern royalty. Some of their most well-known clientele are Naomi Campbell, Kylie Minogue, Dames Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, and Naomie Harris, and two of Hollywood’s leading men, Daniel Craig and Brad Pitt. Recently departed Princess Diana shared this adoration.
Because they are founded on the conviction that health, beauty, and pleasure are inextricably linked, their concepts have inspired generations. They are a locally based business that is proud of its history but excited for the future. They won’t let fleeting trends deter them from their mission of promoting health.
Wellness programs, ideas, and professionals are just some of what Champneys provides. As a culture, their advances in health care are revolutionary. Because of this, it has risen to prominence as a top health and beauty resort, not just in the UK, but globally. They have put a lot of money into their resorts (particularly at Forest Mere, Henlow, and Tring) and have high hopes for Champneys Springs, so the facilities there are cutting edge. Their two hotels, Eastwell Manor and Mottram Hall, have recently reopened after a multimillion-pound makeover, and both have high-end Champneys spas.
The centerpiece of their efforts to revive Tring’s status as the world’s preeminent health resort is a 400-square-meter Marine and Wellness Spa, the first of its type in the UK. This innovative facility may provide the pinnacle of detox rebalance with its selection of water-based personalized therapies provided in a chic, ultra-modern purpose-built facility. It also features a five-meter-long wall made of Himalayan rock salt. Recently, Forest Mere has built a thermal poolside suite with a variety of relaxing amenities such as heated water beds, snugs, relaxation pods, a whirlpool, experience showers, a laconium, a sauna, a snow room, and more.
As an added selling point, they offer more unique fitness courses and vacation packages than any other local spa or hotel. They are confident in their ability to meet the needs of any client because they offer up to 20 lessons each day taught by some of the most in-demand trainers in the business. They employ an innovative approach to fitness and a wide range of wellness experts, many of whom have received accolades, to inspire and motivate their customers.
Because of their dedication to constant innovation, they are able to adapt to new market conditions and set the bar for superior customer service.
